Remedial Literacy

The purpose of this class is to develop the learner's reading skills and comprehension of what is being read. There is also a focus on written and oral communication and expression.  All activites and assignments are driven by the Georgia Standards.

 

All students at Kennedy Road Middle School  are required to read a minimum of twenty books this year.  We encourge our students to read every night.  Listed below are student learning outcomes.

 

• Read and discuss many types of texts
• Improve literal and inferential reading comprehension
• Write with clarity, focus, and thoroughness in  response to literature or texts
• Develop the application of  Standard English Grammar and its mechanics
• Develop vocabulary
• Increase the scope of reading writing and speaking vocabulary
• Read with 95% accuracy
